About

Leadership

Alexander Cordwell, the founder of Lucida Research, holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin and a B.A. from William College, and completed graduate-level AI coursework at Harvard University Extension. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Brazil, was a Fulbright Scholar and National Science Foundation grant recipient, and has taught at the University of Chicago, Boston University, and the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil. He later spent over two decades in natural language processing and speech recognition at Microsoft Research, Cisco, and Wildfire.

More recently, Cordwell has turned his research focus toward aging, cognitive health, and the psychological dimensions of growing older — a transition that reflects both personal experience and intellectual conviction.

Lucida Research is built on the conviction that aging deserves the same curious, rigorous attention we bring to any significant chapter of life — and that older adults benefit most from content that respects their intelligence, acknowledges their diversity of experience, and offers something genuinely actionable.
